Cookies and browser storage

WorldSays uses browser storage for first-party functions and may serve third-party advertising.

Local storage

A random anonymous device UUID is stored under a first-party local-storage key so the API can enforce one vote record per browser, poll and day while still allowing a choice change. A separate preference stores the selected language. WorldSays may also store whether you chose browser location or network fallback for future votes. This location preference never stores latitude or longitude.

Session storage

After a successful two-finger local-map gesture, a session-only flag suppresses repeated gesture hints across country and city pages. It expires with the browser session.

Cookies

The WorldSays application does not set a product cookie for voting and API requests omit credentials. Hosting and security infrastructure may set strictly necessary or protection-related cookies in some environments. In particular, the protected Vercel staging Preview can use authentication behavior that is separate from the production product.

Advertising

WorldSays may use third-party advertising providers. Advertising providers may process browser, device and network information and may use cookies or similar technologies under their applicable policies. Consent or advertising choices may be requested where applicable. Advertising remains separate from WorldSays vote semantics. WorldSays retains a zero-network Google AdSense account marker for ownership verification, but this engine does not render a live AdSense ad unit.

Managing storage

Use your browser’s site-data controls to inspect or clear local storage and cookies. Clearing site storage removes the local anonymous identifier, language preference and WorldSays location preference. Browser location permission itself is controlled separately by your browser or operating system.
