Privacy
WorldSays is designed to collect the minimum information needed to show public geographic poll aggregates and enforce anonymous daily vote semantics.
Information processed
When you vote, the service processes your selected answer, the server-resolved calendar day, an opaque random browser identifier, and approximate network location such as country, region and city when available. If you choose “Use my location”, the service also processes browser-provided latitude, longitude and accuracy temporarily to resolve the locality for that vote.
Anonymous browser identity
The browser creates a random UUID and stores it locally. The raw UUID is sent to the API but is not persisted in the votes table. The Worker derives a keyed HMAC hash and stores that hash so one browser can update, rather than duplicate, its vote for the same poll and day. This is not an account and does not establish a verified human identity.
Network and browser location
Cloudflare necessarily processes the network request and exposes approximate request metadata to the Worker. WorldSays does not store the raw IP address in D1. If you choose “Use my location”, browser coordinates are sent with that vote request and used only to resolve a canonical locality inside the network-resolved country. Raw browser latitude and longitude are not stored with the vote or exposed in public responses, and the application must not write them to analytics or application logs. WorldSays stores the resolved locality identifier and resolution method instead. If browser location is denied, unavailable or too imprecise, the vote falls back to approximate network location.
Vote records and public aggregates
D1 stores the anonymous device hash, poll and site identifiers, day, selected choice, resolved place, country and available network region or city labels, plus the canonical locality identifier and resolution method when available. Raw browser latitude and longitude are not stored. Aggregate rows store vote totals by place, locality and choice. Results shown publicly are aggregate and may be briefly cached. Viewer and vote responses are marked not to be cached.
Service providers
Vercel delivers the frontend. Cloudflare provides the API runtime, network handling, rate limiting and D1 database. OpenFreeMap and OpenStreetMap provide map resources on local pages. These providers process requests under their own applicable terms and policies.
Your controls
You can choose “Let it guess” and vote without sharing browser location. WorldSays may store a first-party preference indicating whether you chose browser location or network fallback; that preference does not contain coordinates. You can manage location permission in your browser settings or clear this site’s browser storage to reset the WorldSays preference and anonymous browser identifier.
Advertising
WorldSays may use third-party advertising providers. Advertising providers may process browser, device and network information and may use cookies or similar technologies under their applicable policies. Consent or advertising choices may be requested where applicable. Advertising remains separate from WorldSays vote semantics. WorldSays retains a zero-network Google AdSense account marker for ownership verification, but this engine does not render a live AdSense ad unit.
